Dimo equipes new era in ferry transportation
We are pleased to announce that we have signed a contract to deliver hydraulic systems and equipment for four new autonomous ferries for Fjord1. The vessels will be constructed at the Tersan Shipyard in Turkey.
The ferries will operate on the E39 Lavik-Oppedal route, the world's first fully autonomous ferry service, starting operations on September 1, 2026, with the control center based in Florø.
New contract
To be delivered by DIMO AS
- 2x Eco Power Units per vessel
- Complete hydraulic systems, including all components and engineering drawings.
- Automation systems with full autonomous control via the Integrated Automation System (IAS), including bridge and deck panels.
- 1x hydraulic high pressure cleaner per vessel
- Electric heating systems to preheat water for high-temperature cleaning
Energy savings | less noise | lower costs
Dimo Eco Power Unit
A key component of our delivery is the energy-efficient and low-noise Dimo Eco Power Unit, already operational on over 30 ferries. This unit saves more than 90% of the energy compared to conventional Hydraulic Power Units.
