DIMO has upgraded the equipment in the service hall at Hareid and now has the cylinder bench for large hydraulic cylinders in full operation. For customers, this means increased capacity, safer handling and more controlled overhaul of large hydraulic cylinders. Locally at Hareid.

With the cylinder bench in full operation, DIMO has strengthened its capacity for large hydraulic cylinders:
- Cylinder weight: up to 12 tonnes
- Combined cylinder length: up to 8,500 mm
- Nut cracker: up to 135,000 Nm
- Pressure testing: up to 500 bar
The cylinder bench is built for precise and safe handling of heavy hydraulic cylinders. Its capacity makes it possible to work systematically with large components from deck equipment, cranes, winches, hatches, lifting arrangements and other maritime installations.
With a nut cracker capacity of up to 135,000 Nm, the service team can work on components that require very high force during disassembly and assembly. Pressure testing up to 500 bar also provides important verification before the cylinder is returned to the customer or reinstalled.

A cylinder overhaul starts with disassembly and thorough inspection. The service team assesses the condition of the piston rod, cylinder barrel, seals, gland, guides, bearings and connections.

Wear, corrosion, scratches, leakage points, deformation and contamination in the system are assessed before further measures are decided. Seals, guides and wear parts are replaced when needed, while damage to the rod, barrel or other components may require polishing, repair or replacement.
In maritime operations, a defective cylinder can quickly lead to delays, reduced function or downtime. Large hydraulic components are often closely connected to critical equipment on board, and service work must be carried out with good control from start to finish.
DIMO handles both field service and in-house service, and can take care of the process from disassembly at the customer’s site to overhaul in the workshop and reinstallation on site.
For the customer, this means one point of contact, better flow in the service process and greater assurance that the cylinder is returned to safe operation.

The cylinder bench strengthens DIMO’s investment in service and repair of heavy hydraulics. In the service hall, DIMO also works on deck cranes, winches, pumps, motors, accumulators and other hydraulic components.

DIMO offers troubleshooting, repair and overhaul of hydraulic cylinders of various brands and sizes. Contact the service team for assessment, service or assistance when needed.
